You are invited to come and see what the Association Free Lutheran Bible School is all about! All 10-12 grade students are invited to join us on campus this spring for one of two visit events. Experience college for a weekend at our Campus Days or come to our one night Spring Preview event. Both events allow you to experience the AFLBS atmosphere in unique ways.
Get to know current AFLBS students. Live in the dorms. Spend time in
the classroom and cafeteria. Most importantly, open God’s Word and
worship with us. Discover how Jesus is “cementing” truth from God's
Word into our hearts and laying the foundation for lives here at
AFLBS.

Gospel Teams or Ministry Teams are selected each school year and
students receive class credit for their service during the year. Some
Gospel Teams are available to share in ministry at churches during the
school year throughout open weekends. Please contact Sam Nash in the
AFLBS office to check if a team may be able to come to your area or
church during the school year. You may also fill out a Gospel Team
request form and send it to the AFLBS office for consideration.

-Lindsay Halvorson, AFLBS Junior, 2009
Running has always been a big part of my life and I really enjoy doing it. I started playing soccer when I was 6 years old so that is where it kind of started, though it wasn’t until about 3 years ago that I actually started to just run. Then I slowly began to realize how much I really loved it. Now when I feel overwhelmed or stressed, I love to just go out for a run. It is also a great time for me to just think about my spiritual life and do a lot of praying.
On October 12th, 2008, I ran the Chicago marathon. This was my first marathon ever and I was very nervous for it. The Chicago Marathon had 42,000 runners and was the world’s largest marathon. The reason why I chose to do a marathon was because I needed a challenge to push myself to the next level. My aunt and uncle also ran it with me but this was their 2nd marathon. I have to say this was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had in my life. It was a huge accomplishment. I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to cross the finish line, but I did and it was the best feeling ever. During the race I was telling myself, “I am never going to do this again,” but here I am training for the 2009 San Diego Marathon. I will run my 2nd marathon on May 31st, 2009. So, I am training for that right now and am very excited for it.
The past year I have been studying at AFLBS and have really matured and grown a lot in my faith. I want to dig deeper and deeper into God's word everyday and learn as much about it as I can. It’s the same when you are training for a marathon. I mean, yes there are many days when I just DO NOT want to go out for that 8 to 15 mile run, but I just have to tell myself I need to keep digging deeper and deeper and that is the only way I will accomplish my goals. Even on those hard days we just have to continue to look to God in whatever we do. Overall, running is just a great part of my life and I am so happy with talents God has given me.
