UPDATES:
It has been a blessing since our last update to see God answer prayer in the hearts and lives of students here at AFLBS. God used the messages of His word during the Revival Conference, held on the AFLC Schools campus from September 30th-October 3rd, to bring about repentance of sin and a growing desire to know and do God's will in the lives of many students. Pastor Kevin Gardner (Fox River, IL) gave a series of messages entitled "Step Up", from 1 Kings 19 & Pastor Robert Lee (Crystal, MN) spoke on The Layman's Prayer Revival of 1857-1858. Students gathered together in Prayer Huddle Groups before each evening service. Many stayed after the services to pray and seek further counsel in God's Word and to pray about specific personal needs. A number experienced significant spiritual "break through" as issues from the past were surrendered to Jesus.
One student said, "God gave me a bigger burden for lost souls and convicted me of my complacency toward the lost souls I encounter every day." Another said, "My life is way too fast paced and busy. God revealed to me that I need to slow down and make time for Him in my busy schedule and I need to do everything unto the glory of God. I need to lay aside the distractions in my life and focus on God only!" Yet another response was, "This week God gave me an excitement for the call he's given me and the ministry He wants me to do. He showed me that I need to be spending more time in His word and with Him, and that I need to be sold out to Him all the time."
We realize there is an ongoing need for prayer and dependence on the Lord in all things, and students have organized a special prayer meeting to pray specifically for this every Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. We pray that there would be an open door for God's Word in each heart as it goes forth in each class, as well as in personal devotions.
The mission meeting continues each Thursday evening led by the students. The program includes some presentation on missions, as well as an extended prayer time for all the missionaries and their needs in ministry. There are about thirty students attending each week.
Fall Campus Days were held October 19-21 with more than 150 high school students attending from nine states, Denmark, and Italy.
Students attended classes on Isaiah, Luke, John and Genesis taught by Pastors Holmaas, Haugen, Moan and Franz.
They also had the opportunity to meet their future classmates when they divided up by class years in break-out groups and games. Other opportunities for fellowship included Saturday evening recreation at the Maple Grove Community Center where students enjoyed swimming, basketball, and volleyball.
Pastor Mark Johnson, Zion-Sarpsburg Lutheran, Dalton MN, gave a special message Friday evening on Do you have a vision of what your life can be in Christ? (Nehemiah 3) and Saturday evening on The Priority & Power of God's Word (Nehemiah 8).
The next Campus Days will be held March 28-30 for prospective high school students. Adults may also wish to visit the Bible school during the Deans' Luncheons: Nov. 15, Jan. 10, Feb. 21, Apr. 3 & May 1. Call 1-877-23-AFLBS for details and reservations.
