Dear Friends of AFLBS,
We’ve reached the mid-semester point here at AFLBS! Students are being stretched and challenged through their studies in classes such as Genesis, Principles of Congregational Life, and Bible Doctrine for first-year students, and Church History, Pastoral Letters, and Studies in Luke for second-year students. The AFLBS campus united this past weekend, as we hosted more than 110 ninth through twelfth grade students for Fall Campus Days. Highlights included Pastor Kevin Olson’s messages on full surrender to Christ, Friday night’s game show, “Are you Smarter than an AFLBS Student?", and a student-led worship and testimony time around the campfire Saturday night.
Pastor Kevin preached from Ephesians 4, where Paul writes, “We are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine […] but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.” That is our heart at AFLBS. Our prayer is that our Bible school students will grow up into Christ and become spiritually mature, passionate followers of Him. Please continue to pray for the ministry at AFLBS. Pray for the seeds of God’s Word to fall on fertile soil, or as Jesus says, “Good soil that yields a crop, producing thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
Find news updates, latest videos, and prayer requests below. Check out our newest promo video and yesterday's chapel message with AFLC Missionary, Justo Pillman.
Also, if you live in the Twin Cities Metro Area, there will be a Vespers Worship Service at 7:30 p.m. at our campus chapel this coming Sunday, October 30. The Vespers Service is part of our Fall Preview event for prospective students. We would love friends and alumni of AFLBS to join us!
In Christ,
Chad Friestad,
AFLBS Student Development Director

Featured Alumni: Cassie Subbert (Class of 2003)
Hometown: McIntosh, MN / Current Town: St. Louis Park, MN
During my time at AFLBS, I found that it was a wonderful place to grow spiritually and a great place to meet life-long friends. It gave me a strong foundation in the Word and the Lord.
Currently, I'm working as a Mental Health Practitioner and involving myself in the ministry of helping families in need manage their stress. God is calling me to serve families and the community. I'm also married to Kevin Subbert, and we have one daughter.

Reflecting Back and Looking Forward
Campus Days and Fall Preview
Praise the Lord! This last weekend, almost 120 students and chaperones piled into the dorms for a activity-packed weekend. Students reconnected with old friends, made some new acquaintances, studied the Word in classes and chapel services, whipped around on roller-skates at the Roller Garden, and enjoyed a beautiful day to play Ultimate Frisbee on the grassy field of our campus.
During the Saturday morning assembly, the Student Council put together a creative, humorous, and informative game of AFLBS Jeopardy to help students find out what life is like at Bible School. In the evenings--both Friday and Saturday--Pastor Kevin Olson of Shakopee, MN, who works now with the AFLC Ambassador Institute, shared with us about our higher calling in Christ and about our full surrender--the need to let Christ take care of the little details as we follow Him without looking back.
We pray that this weekend proved to be a blessing for many who came, a time to hear the Word of God and consider where He would lead them next. Though we desire to see all of our guests someday step onto Campus as students, our heart's greatest hope remains that during this weekend, students experienced the presence of God. More than anything, we want all who came to know Jesus--wherever He would take them next.
This coming weekend, we expect more students for our annual Fall Preview, a Sunday-Monday event that gives students a taste of what a typical day at AFLBS looks like. This shorter glimpse of AFLBS life, which begins on Sunday evening, October 30th, and goes into the next day, resembles more of a college visit than a weekend event. Though the numbers are relatively small (since the Preview is only a few years old), we're excited to meet the students who will come and to invite them into our student body for a couple of days! If you're interested in sending a child, grandchild, friend, you can go online to find a registration form. It's not too late!

Join with Us in Prayer and Praise for God's Work:
- Praise God for the students He brought to Campus Days. Pray for the work He began in students' hearts--and for the work He will do during this next weekend's Fall Preview.
- Praise God for the scholarships that came in for students of AFLBS from various congregations and individuals. The Lord provided $17,000 through these kind people--join us in thanking Him for His gracious provision!
- Pray for Chad and Christie Friestad as they travel to Battle Lake, MN, this weekend to represent AFLBS at the Southwest Central MN District Youth Retreat and visit Chippewa Lutheran Church in Brandon, MN on Sunday morning.
- Pray for the AFLBS Worship Team as they serve this weekend at a youth lock-in at Grace Lutheran church in Bruce, SD. They will also lead worship for the Sunday morning service. Pray that this would be a great opportunity to serve this congregation and build relationships with the youth.
- Pray for the Concert and Proclaim Choirs as they prepare for the Christmas Concerts in early December, just a little more than a month and a half away. Be in prayer for the Gospel Teams, too, as they minister to surrounding churches and prepare for the Gospel Team concert during Parent's Weekend, December 9th-11th.
- Pray for the Basketball teams as they look forward to their first games in Ellendale, ND, on November 3rd and 4th against Trinity Bible College.
- Continue to pray for ongoing revival on campus as students come under the Word of God each day. Pray that God would ignite in the students, day by day, a sense of wonder and respect toward the Scriptures.

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
