Dear Friends of AFLBS,
Psalm 136 was a fitting Scripture for staff devotions this morning. It begins, "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His lovingkindness is everlasting." I encourage you to read the Psalm for yourself. You'll quickly notice all the reasons why we should give thanks to the Lord: He made the heavens with skill, He divided the Red Sea asunder, led His people through the wilderness, gave their land as a Heritage, He remembered us in our low estate, rescued us from our adversaries, and gives food to all flesh. Throughout all these descriptions, we see God's hand at work as our provider and creator, He fights for us, and He rescues us, just to name a few.
At AFLBS, we have seen God's hand at work in powerful ways. He sent two students to Uganda. He's training five students for youth ministry. He's bringing students together with a heart to pray. He's raising up spiritual leaders. He's providing gifts for scholarships and operations. He's stirring in the hearts of youth across the AFLC - many are considering Bible school. He's calling students into missions. He's guarding us from the attacks of the enemy. He's guiding our ministry.
That's why we can move forward in the confidence of the Lord. "To Him who alone does great wonders, for His lovingkindness is everlasting." That's why we can give thanks!
We're thankful for each member of the AFLBS family. We are grateful for the love, prayers, support, and partnership of each of you. We agree with Paul in Philippians 1, "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for all of you."
Please find updates and prayer requests below.
In Christ,
Chad Friestad,
AFLBS Student Development Director

AFLBS Seeks Partners for Intercessor Team
Will you pray with us?
We are seeking individuals and families who would share in this heart of prayer and commit to praying for AFLBS on a daily basis for the ongoing ministry of our schools and the upcoming building project. Would you consider partnering with us in prayer? There is no greater work to do, nor is there a work in which more people can be involved. This work is available to all, and one for which all are needed. We are completely dependent upon a sovereign God, but a God who hears and answers the prayers of His people. Given the shortness of time and the length of eternity, can we county on you to pray for us and with us? Read more...

Christ is Born: Alleluia!
AFLBS Christmas Weekend
As Thanksgiving quickly approaches--as families gather and houses begin to twinkle with Christmas lights, the AFLBS campus is beginning to come alive with anticipation for the Christmas Season. On our campus, the Christmas/Parents weekend becomes for many a favorite event of the school year. And this Christmas, we want to invite you to come and share the celebration with us.
We're so excited to come together with students, parents, and friends of the AFLC schools to remember again the miracle and wonder of the birth of Jesus Christ--our Lord and precious Saviour. Come join us from December 9th through the 11th for a weekend full of fellowship, music, and worship.
AFLBS welcomes friends and family to enjoy our Gospel Team concert on Friday evening, December 9th, at 8:00 p.m. as the various ministry teams on campus share music and testimonies. On Saturday, both the Women's and Men's basketball teams will be playing games at Heritage Christian Academy at 2 and 4 o'clock p.m. That same evening, at 7 o'clock p.m.-- and again on Sunday at 4 o'clock p.m--the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and both the Concert and Proclaim Choirs will be presenting their Christmas Concert with the theme Christ is Born ~ Alleluia. We'd love to have you share in these evenings with us--evenings of worship and celebration and praise to the King who was born as a baby in a humble manger two thousand years ago to make the hope of salvation into a reality for us.
Find the full weekend schedule and more details about the events, look on our website.

Join with Us in Prayer and Praise for God's Work:
- Praise God for those who surrounded Jeremy Erickson and his family on Sunday evening at the prayer/annointing service at the Central Mission in Saint Paul. The Erickson's were blessed and overwhelmed by the prayers of faith on their behalf.
- Praise God for the growing heart for prayer in the AFLBS Student Body. The Student Mission Fellowship, a prayer group that meets weekly on campus, is seeing more and more students with a heart to lift up the needs of their brothers and sisters around the world. In the past few weeks SMF has grown from about six or seven students to approximately fifteen! God is so good.
- Praise the Lord for the connections that Chad and Christie Friestad were able to build this past weekend at the SD District Youth Retreat in Sioux Falls, SD. The Friestads have been able to develop some good relationships with youth in their travels around the midwest.
- Praise God, as well, for the opportunities that the Worship Team and the Mixed Quartet had this weekend to minister, serve, and build relationships with youth at the SD District Youth Retreat and at the Fall Youth Retreat for Badger Creek Free Lutheran Church.
- Pray for the students of AFLBS as they travel to see family and friends over Thanksgiving break--for a restful weekend and for safe travels.
- Pray for Hans Tanner and Micah Berger as they serve with the Nate Jore family in Jinja, Uganda. They ask for prayers for the Ambassador Institute classes they work with--for the students' last weeks of class and final exams. They also requested for prayer for their upcoming break--for rest and growth and encouragement--and then for the various ministries they're involved in: the Door43 project to translate and record God's Word/Bible stories in every language, and the Listening Group they seek to start in order to let the local people listen to the Word of God spoken to them. Hans and Micah thank you for joining them in prayer--for their relationships and ministry for Christ in Uganda.
- Continue to pray for Jeremy Erickson and his family as they walk through this difficult time with Jeremy's sickness. For those of you who don't know, Jeremy's suffering repercussions of the chemotherapy he received five years ago--treatment that he said, "saved my life." As a result though, his bone marrow has stopped functioning, and the risks before him are extremely great. They beg for your prayers for "a no-denying, physics-defying healing, and if not that, then faith, hope, and peace."
- Please remember to lift up the instructors at AFLBS and AFLTS as they present the Word of God each day to their students. God has placed on them a great privalege and responsibilities as possessors of the truth, and only He can make their gifts powerful for the growth of students under the Scriptures. It is absolutely vital that the body of Christ ask God to equip and use these instructors for the Kingdom. Only with the wisdom and power of the Lord can their work bring forth fruit. Thank you so much!
