Molstre Accepts Call as Seminary Dean

The Free Lutheran Schools, Plymouth, Minnesota, announces the call of Rev. James Molstre as Dean of the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary (AFLTS). Molstre currently serves as pastor of Helmar Lutheran Church, Newark, Illinois, where he has served for the past four years.
As Dean of the Seminary, Molstre will oversee the seminary academic program, provide guidance and support for the seminary student body and their families, teach approximately half-time in the Seminary, and serve on the administrative leadership team for the AFLC Schools. Pastor Wade Mobley, called as both President of the Free Lutheran Schools and Dean of the Seminary in June, 2014, will continue as President.
After graduating high school in Dickinson, North Dakota, Molstre attended the Association Free Lutheran Bible School for one year, before attending North Dakota State University, where he played football and studied history and education. He is a graduate of AFLTS, where he received his Master of Divinity degree in 1993 and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He wrote his doctoral thesis on “Grief and Evangelism: a strategic plan for the congregation.” Molstre has served as senior pastor of three congregations over the past 23 years, including Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Zumbrota, Minnesota; Ruthfred Lutheran Church, Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; and Helmar Lutheran Church, Newark, Illinois.
Pastor Molstre and his wife, Kristin, have three children, Jordan and his wife Meredith of Lynchburg, Virgina, Rachel of Dayton, Ohio, and Mikaela, a senior at Aurora University in Illinois. They have one grandson and are expecting a granddaughter soon.
Molstre will begin his role at the Free Lutheran Schools on June 1, 2017.
