The prophet Jeremiah ministered in a most difficult time and to a most difficult people, and in the midst of all this we see a prophet who all the more sought God through prayer. For Jeremiah, past deliverances gave cause for present hope, and there was no place so far removed from God that He does not hear. May we find encouragement in his example, affirming again that there is never an inopportune time to pray, for we serve a God who delights in the prayers of His children.
